E-Newsletter for August 2018
Welcome!Hi everyone, With summer winding down, temperatures are also coming down. Finally! It’s been a hot summer and kudos to our maintenance crew for keeping the course as green as possible. We greatly appreciate your help by repairing your ball marks on the greens, and fixing your divots on the tee boxes and fairways. Did you know we have a grass hitting area on our driving range? We are the only course in the AV that do not require golfers to hit off mats. Baskets range from $3 – $9. Our monthly range cards cost $56, and you can hit an unlimited number of balls during the month. Book Your Next Tee Time ONLINEHave you tried booking your tee time online? Our online reservation system is a fast and simple way of scheduling your tee time 24/7. Book two months out in advance for golf or footgolf, regular or senior, twilight or nine holes plus, we can handle it all! No credit card required, simply schedule your tee time online and pay at the course 15 minutes prior to your scheduled tee time. Thanks to all who have reached out with questions/comments. Please continue to do so by filling out a suggestion card in the clubhouse, or sending us feedback via your digital receipt. Thank you for your support! I had a great but short vacation – need to do that more often. Thanks to those who missed me and welcomed me back to my second home away from home. Colorado and Prescott sure were a lot cooler! Will this heat ever stop? I can’t remember a summer being this hot for so long and especially in the triple digits. We are trying to stay on top of keeping the course looking green and sometimes I think we are going to lose but then our night water guys seem to step up to the plate and do more than what is asked. They continue to work hard. Thank you Eric and Paul we have stopped watering so late in the morning as we were getting a few players letting us know the fairways were still pretty wet, but we will continue to work at it. The Veteran’s tournament that we were going to host in Sept has been postponed until next year. If you are interested in being notified when it is rescheduled, please let us know. We still have our Summer Sizzler Special going on between 12 and 3 you get 50% off of green fees, if you take a cart the cart is still the same price no discount. Twilight at 3: 00 and 9Holes+ at 5:00. A little cooler. We have plenty of refreshments inside the club house so you can always come out and play and then come inside where it is cool with your friends and have some cool refreshments and something to eat. We have plenty of Beer most flavors and hot dogs, polish dogs, chili and sandwiches. Snacks candy cookies and chips even ice cream. We are always trying to carry what a golfer would need to help them with their game if you would like to see us carry something in the pro shop please stop in and let us know. If we can get it at a decent price and bring it in to sell we will do our best to get that said item. Don’t forget to practice – a little goes a long way. A lesson also helps when stuck with the same problem swing over and over agai. “If a lot of people gripped a knife and fork the way they do the golf club, they would starve to death.” Mens Club NewsMENS CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPCongratulations to Bud Bryant who won the 2018 Low Net Club Championship! Congratulations also to Joe Robbins who had the low gross score in the Club Championship and is also eligible to represent the Rancho Sierra Mens Club at the SCGA Tournament of Champions. LABOR DAY MONDAY MULLIGAN TOURNAMENTWe’ve all finished a round of golf and had a case of the “if s”. If I wouldn’t have pulled that drive on #1, if I would have gone for the green on #2, if I would have made that putt on #3 etc. IF I COULD DO THOSE OVER, I WOULD HAVE A GREAT SCORE! How would you like to have a “do-over” tournament? How about getting one mulligan on every hole! Well, on Labor Day, Monday, September 3, the Course and the Mens Club will offer a Labor Day Monday Mulligan Tournament! Yep, each golfer will receive one mulligan per hole! All golfers with and without a handicap are welcome to participate. Those with a GHIN handicap will be divided into flights. Those without a GHIN handicap will use a Modified Peoria handicap and compete in a separate flight. (Don’t worry, we’ll calculate it for you.) Entry fee is $10 to the tournament director plus green fees to the course. Registration will begin at 7:15, tournament meeting, rules review, and tee assignments at 7:45! Shotgun start at 8:00. This is open to all golfers. Awards will also be given for Closest to the Pin on all par 3’s.

Tips from Our Pro6 Moves To Increase Your Power Without Swinging Any Harder!1) Make room for your arms. Stand taller and farther away from the ball. (Which promotes a bigger shoulder turn.) Keep the grip pressure light. 2) On the takeaway – Set your club at the top with the club face running parallel to your target line and your grip pointing to the ball. 3) Start with a hip bump to trigger the down swing and pull the club around your body with your lead hand. 4) Release your hands/wrists/arms while keeping the grip pressure light and your muscles relaxed. (Loose muscles are fast muscles…Tight muscles kill speed.) 5) The club should travel with the grip pointing at the tee and the club face at this point still running parallel to your target. (Notice how far Makayla’s ball has traveled and she hasn’t even finished the swing.) 6) Great things happen when you finish a swing. It also allows time to analyze the end result and what created that ball flight. (Pictured is Makayla Dorman during an On Course Session At Rancho Sierra Golf Course) Book your session today!
