Welcome!
Hi everyone,
My apologies for the missing pictures in the November newsletter – I am heartened to know that so many people read the newsletter however! Apologies also to Patrick for putting the wrong Golf Tips in his section. Mea culpa!
We hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving with friends and family.
I spent some time before the holiday with extended family to remember my mom who passed away earlier this year. While warm for Nebraska in Nov, it was pretty cold to me! And when I got back to Lancaster, I was treated to some very nice weather. This Thanksgiving weekend was particularly beautiful.
Don’t forget – buy 18 holes of golf with cart and you will be automatically entered in our holiday raffle. We’ll be raffling off a turkey and several pies before Christmas. You can also purchase a raffle ticket for only $1.
And one more thing… beginning next Tuesday 11/28, our Men’s Club will be teeing off an hour later, at 9am.
Perfect for that Special Golfer
Don’t know what to get that special golfer in your life? How about Rancho Sierra gift cards, which can be used on anything at Rancho Sierra Golf Course? Use them just like a prepaid debit card, they can be recharged for any amount.

News from the Clubhouse
Here it is Thanksgiving already, don’t know about you but the older I get the years seem to speed by so fast Christmas next month and I just took down the decorations last week. (Kidding) but way too fast. Seriously let’s talk Christmas! We have a lot of new hats, Balls, shirts and warm weather jackets to purchase for gifts also we always have Gift Certificates available in whatever amount you would like to purchase. They don’t expire and can be used at the course for ANYTHING. Having friends and family down for the holidays bring them out to the course for a quiet round of golf, call or make a tee time, you can do this up to 2 months in advance. Interested in getting a tournament together for Thanksgiving or Christmas now is the time to start getting your info together along with signing up friends, family or people you work with. We will help you with setting up the tournament. We try and keep everyone updated on any tournaments we may be hosting at the course. For info call the pro shop and they will give you the times and days if we have any scheduled. Don’t want golf try our foot golf for a fun time and you can also set up a tournament. Great for the younger kids who are on school vacation.
Our hours have changed ends we open at 6:00am and close at 5:30pm. You can practice putting and chipping at our putting green next to tee box 8 or go to the range which for some the range would be a great starting point to the game. Speaking of the range we have Range Cards $49.95 for 30 days of unlimited use of the range. You can choose any size bucket, spend the day if you need that much practice or drop in once or twice a week. Practice is good “Golf is deceptively simple and endlessly complicated” We are sorry to say but there is no longer a Women’s Club who play on Wed. If you are interested in acquiring a handicap the men club said you can join the SGCA. We have a Men’s Club that play Tuesday, Thursday and Sun all start at 8:00am this will change as soon as the mornings get colder, come out and play as a guest with them to see if you would like to join. Arrive at least ½ hour early, they play a variety of games and have quite a few members. If you’re in a group of 5 (6 some never) which is up to the discretion of the starter you must let faster players to go through unless the course is so full there is no room or empty tee boxes. Remember everyone wants to finish their round and not have to wait and wait or have a round of 9 holes take forever.
I am sure a lot of you know Shonda she works the afternoon shift, well she fell and broke her wrist and is off on leave until she mends. The staff here hopes for a speedy recovery I am sure she is home bored and wants to get back to work as soon as the Doctor gives her the okay. We are all hoping it is soon, we have all stepped up and have taken over her days which means you golfers will be seeing us all working different shifts.

Mens Club News
The Mens Club is more than a bunch of guys who play golf three times a week. Often there are away trips planned that not only include golf but casinos and restaurants. Away trips are always open to spouses, friends, and guests. Here are some pictures of the places we’ve been and events we’ve held:
- Complete an SCGA application (available in the clubhouse above the handicap computer). Put the application and your $50 dues in an envelope and deposit the envelope in the white box above the computer.
- Click here and submit your application online.
If you have any questions, please email us or visit us on Facebook.
Don’t forget the ultimate golf etiquette. Respect the course, your fellow players, yourself and the game of golf.
Tips from Our Pro
Understanding the Importance of Good Posture
When making improvements to your golf game having and maintaining good posture is vital. Being bent from the hips at address affords golfers the ability to properly rotate around the spine. Rotating around the spine from a fundamental position makes returning at impact repeatable. Impact is by far the most important position in a golf swing as it determines the quality of the shots hit. If too many compensations must be made to return to a fundamental impact position your consistency will suffer as a result. Eliminating compensations should be the focus of all swing characteristics practiced to increase overall efficiency and repeatability. Golf is a game of repeatability and golfers that use fundamentals that promote such habits will make less compensations leading to lower scores. Always dedicate practice time to fundamentals to ensure that you are putting your body in a position to make repeatable golf swings. Although practicing posture can seem like something a “beginner” golfer may practice it’s beneficial to understand the importance it can have on your game as a whole.
