Welcome!
Hi everyone,
Oops – I guess Britney and I have one thing in common…
I made a few mistakes in the last newsletter – a missing scorecard to help explain the golf tip from Paul, and an incorrect demo day notice. Sorry for any confusion or misunderstanding!
Well, I guess Winter didn’t completely pass us by this year after all. It’s been pretty chilly lately but we hope you are still managing to come out and get in a round or two.
While we are waiting for Spring to arrive, we’ve been making plans for the coming months.
We will be holding two demo days in March:
– a Bridgestone Demo Day on Saturday, 3/17 and
– a Cleveland Demo Day the following Saturday, 3/24.
Both events will be from 10 am to 2 pm. Watch for more details soon.
Plus, our first Golf Clinic for 2018 will be held from April 7th – May 19th (Saturday for 7 weeks). Click here to view our event calendar where we have more details.
Book Your Next Tee Time ONLINE
Have you tried booking your tee time online? Our online reservation system is a fast and simple way of scheduling your tee time 24/7. Book two months out in advance for golf or footgolf, regular or senior, twilight or nine holes plus, we can handle it all! No credit card required, simply schedule your tee time online and pay at the course 15 minutes prior to your scheduled tee time.
Thanks to all who have reached out with questions/comments. Please continue to do so by filling out a suggestion card in the clubhouse, or sending us feedback via your digital receipt.
Thank you for your support! And please let us know if there is anything we can do to help improve your experience at Rancho Sierra.
News from the Clubhouse
Hope everyone had a nice Valentine Day. If you didn’t get your favorite golfer a gift and you are in hot water, hurry in and get one of our Gift Cards and surprise that special person with a day at the golf course. Lunch, golf and maybe try the range to loosen up a bit.
Our doors open at 6:30 but in case of a frost delay, play may not start until 7-7:30. Follow us on twitter (or check out our feed on our web site) as we tweet about the conditions early each morning.
You can practice putting and chipping on our putting green by the #8 tee box or go to the range. Speaking of the range, we have Range Cards for $49.95 which gives you 30 days of unlimited use of the range. You can choose any size bucket – spend the day or drop in once or twice a week.
Also, check out our MONTHLY golf packages – they vary from 5 day to 7 day to annual. Senior to regular to junior prices and they are very reasonable.
Ladies, we have a few women golfers who play on Mondays around 10:00 am and would like others to join them. Not as a club, but just a get-together to meet other women golfers. They play 9 holes so please come out and join in the fun. You can walk or ride a cart – just bring your clubs and get ready for a nice way to start the week with other friendly lady golfers.
Our twilight and super twilight (9 holes +) rates still start at 1:00 and 3:00, but that will change as the days get longer. If unsure, please call the pro shop.
Looking to play in a tournament? We will be happy to help you set one up.
We try and keep everyone updated on any tournaments we may be hosting at the course. For info, call the pro shop and they will give you the times and days if we have any scheduled.
Don’t feel like playing golf? Try footgolf for a fun time or you can set up a footgolf tournament. Great for the younger kids who are on school vacation. (FootGolf play starts at 12pm everyday.)
We hope you like the change in the pro shop. We think it looks less cluttered and quite a bit more open. Is there something you need, want or would like to purchase for someone else? Please let us know and we will do our best to carry it in the shop.
Hungry and want a snack? We have all kinds of candy, chips, cookies and an abundance of sodas or water. We also have a large variety of beers. We also often have hot dogs and polish dogs cooking and on the weekends, chili and pepper bellies.
If you have any suggestions or questions, feel free to ask the starters and what we don’t know, we’ll do our best to find out.
“If you want to beat someone out on the golf course, just get them mad.” So true – we have had a few irons in the lakes, trees and trash.

Tips from Our Pro
WOW – What a great month of winter weather we just experienced. It really gave us a huge advantage to be able to go out and play a couple extra rounds – Spend a little due time on the putting/chipping areas along with a few added range sessions.. Our games should be peaking by Masters’ Weekend at this pace.
In the last newsletter I suggested “practicing with a purpose” which seems to have worked well for quite a few – But then the question arises…What should I work on? Let your scorecard answer that for you – Take your card and write Fairways on one line – Greens on the next one – Putts on the following (example at the bottom of the page) After each hole, mark if you hit YOUR fairway – Made the green in regulation? – How many putts did you experience per hole?
You will start to see trends which can be tracked by keeping a few consecutive scorecards. Take those stats and work them to your advantage. If you notice that you are not hitting at least 50% of your fairways – It’s time to look at a lesson with your local Club Pro or it might be the need for a new driver with the appropriate shaft/loft for the swing characteristics. If you hit 60% or less of your greens – Look at course management or add another wedge to the bag, Greater than 1.77 putts per hole is a sign to spend more energy on the practice green. Get fit for a putter which compliments your stroke or schedule a quick appointment to tune up that flat stick. All easy fixes if we take the time to acknowledge what to work on.
And PLEASE be realistic….If your top PGA/LPGA Tour Players are hitting the Fairways 60% – Greens 70% – Putting to a 1.70 mark per hole – They are winning events. Keep in mind these individuals do this 40 hours a week and most of us have day jobs we need to maintain.
Last bit of advice – What we feel and what is real are sometimes two different things – (Video doesn’t lie)
